‘Finding Bright’ examines the complex and variant intersections of childhood with adulthood.
In this work, Jaina looks to focus on “how the complex trauma of an unconventional upbringing can make the transition difficult,” with regards to this shift from childhood to adulthood. This piece especially explores the difficulties that complex early trauma, combined with an unconventional upbringing, can have on this transition.
Jaina says, “I fabricate these environments to create a shared cathartic experience between myself and the subject.”
Artist Statement
“Jaina Cipriano is a Boston based artist working with photography, film and installation. Her work explores the emotional toll of religious and romantic entrapment through immersive sets and emotional performances that mirror the subconscious.”

Pandemic and Practice
“It [the Pandemic] has created stronger bonds between myself and my collaborators. We work together in a physical space less but we plan for the long term everyday. I have had the time to step back and look seriously at what I am doing. I am grateful for the space I have gotten this past year, even during this tumultuous time.”
